Make Water Reflections Look Better in Your Builds

Understand Reflection Limitations

PotatoGlow Shaders includes simple reflections on water surfaces that reflect the sky and nearby scenery without heavy performance cost. These reflections are intentionally subtle to keep the mod lightweight.

Position Builds for Best Reflection Effect

Water reflections show up most clearly when:

  • You're looking at water from a low angle (standing on shore looking across a lake)
  • The water is in open areas with clear sky above
  • You build near large water bodies rather than small puddles

Enhance Reflections Through Design

Make reflections more noticeable by:

  • Creating wide, flat water surfaces instead of choppy terrain
  • Placing your build near water so it reflects in the surface
  • Building during daytime when the sky is bright and colorful
  • Using contrasting block colors that show up clearly in reflections

Check Shader Settings

If reflections seem too faint, open the shader menu and look for a Reflection Strength or Water Quality option. Increasing this value makes reflections more visible, though it may slightly impact frame rate.

Accept the Aesthetic

PotatoGlow's reflections are intentionally clean and simple—they won't match heavy shader packs, but they preserve the vanilla blocky look while adding visual depth.
