Reducing Lag While Keeping Visual Effects

Identify Performance Bottlenecks

Open your F3 debug screen and monitor frame rate while exploring. If you drop below your target FPS near trees or foliage-heavy areas, the waving animation system may be the culprit.

Disable or Lower Animation Quality

Return to shader settings and look for foliage or animation quality options. Reduce waving grass and leaf movement intensity, or disable them entirely. This directly reduces the calculations your GPU must perform each frame.

Adjust Render Distance Carefully

Lower your render distance incrementally—even one chunk reduction can help on older systems. The shader's lighting calculations apply across your entire visible world, so less terrain means faster rendering.

Monitor Results

After each change, return to your world and check frame rate in the same location. Once you reach stable performance, you can gradually re-enable features to find the sweet spot between visuals and speed. Potato Lite is built to run on budget hardware, so you should find a comfortable balance quickly.
