Create Custom Hide and Seek Rules for Your Group
Establish Core Rules
Before playing, agree on fundamental mechanics: Is morphing allowed, and if so, which morphs are banned? Can hiders leave the village boundaries? What happens when a hider is caught—are they out, or do they become seekers? How long is the time limit? Clear rules prevent arguments and keep games fun.
Set Boundaries and Safe Zones
Decide which areas of the map are playable. Some groups restrict play to the village itself, while others allow the surrounding terrain. Designate a safe zone where the seeker cannot enter during the countdown phase. This ensures hiders have a fair chance to disperse.
Define Win Conditions
Agree on victory criteria: Do hiders win only if *all* of them survive, or does even one survivor count as a hider victory? Does the seeker win by finding everyone, or is a certain percentage acceptable? These details shape strategy.
Adjust Difficulty
If one side consistently dominates, tweak the rules. Give seekers more time, reduce the hider countdown, or add additional seekers. Conversely, if hiders always win, shorten the time limit or expand the seeker's safe zone.
Document and Rotate
Write down your house rules so new players understand them. Rotate rule sets between sessions to keep the experience fresh and challenging for everyone.
