Setting Up Your First Game

Poly Chess Mod lets you play real chess against friends on multiplayer servers without requiring them to install anything extra—the mod runs entirely server-side using Polymer.

To begin, craft the chess pieces you need using the mod's 12 crafting recipes. You'll have access to all standard pieces in both white and black sets: Kings, Queens, Bishops, Knights, Rooks, and Pawns. Arrange these blocks on a checkered board surface to set up your match.

Once your board is ready, invite a friend to challenge you. Place pieces according to standard chess rules, then take turns moving them across your custom tabletop. The pieces work as interactive blocks, making gameplay straightforward in survival mode.

For extra motivation, complete the mod's 13 custom advancements as you play and win matches. Chess boards also make excellent decorative additions to castles, libraries, and living rooms when not actively in use.
