Crafting the Iron Respirator

The Iron Respirator is your first wearable defense against polluted air. It is made through a shaped crafting recipe using an Iron Filter Frame and an Iron Vacuum Bag as the core components. Place the Iron Filter Frame in the center of the crafting grid and combine it with the Iron Vacuum Bag to produce the Iron Respirator. Keep the Iron Vacuum Tube nearby as well, since it is part of the same iron-tier set and is used in related recipes.

Using the Iron Respirator

Equip the Iron Respirator in your helmet or face slot so it filters the air you breathe while you move through polluted areas. When the filter becomes saturated, it stops protecting you. To restore it, combine the used respirator with a fresh Iron Filter Frame in a crafting recipe. Always carry spare Iron Filter Frames and Iron Vacuum Bags so you can rebuild a respirator in the field. If you want to check how dirty the air is before you travel, craft an Aerometer and hold it while you walk; it reads the pollution level around you. Upgrade to the Golden Respirator or Diamond Respirator later by crafting them from their matching Golden or Diamond Filter Frame and Vacuum Bag components.
