Troubleshoot Low Frame Rates While Using Polace

Identify the Performance Bottleneck

Open the debug screen (F3) and monitor frame time. If frames drop significantly in specific areas (caves, forests, large builds), shadows or ambient lighting may be the culprit.

Reduce Shadow Settings First

Shadow rendering is typically the heaviest feature. In Shader Options:

  • Lower shadow distance (how far shadows render)
  • Reduce shadow softness or quality
  • Disable shadow filtering if available

Adjust Draw Distance

Increase Minecraft's render distance gradually. Polace performs better with moderate distances (12-16 chunks) on low-end hardware.

Disable Optional Features

Check for toggles for ambient occlusion, bloom, or other visual enhancements. Disabling non-essential effects can recover significant frame rate.

Monitor Temperature

Polace is lightweight, but sustained low frame rates may indicate thermal throttling. Ensure your GPU isn't overheating—clean vents and check background processes.

Verify Mod Compatibility

Conflicts with other mods or resource packs can impact performance. Test Polace alone to establish a baseline.
