Adjust Shadow Intensity for Your Hardware

Access Shader Settings

Open the Shader Options menu by pressing the designated key (default: O) while in-game, or access it through Video Settings > Shaders > Shader Options.

Find Shadow Controls

Look for shadow-related sliders in the main options panel. Polace provides adjustable shadow depth and softness controls that let you balance visual quality against frame rate.

Optimize for Your System

If you're experiencing frame drops:

  • Reduce shadow distance or intensity using the available sliders
  • Lower shadow softness to decrease processing overhead
  • Disable optional ambient occlusion if available

If your system handles the shader well and you want richer visuals:

  • Increase shadow intensity for more defined block depth
  • Boost ambient lighting values to enhance cave and night visibility

Test and Save

Make small adjustments and observe frame rates in different environments—caves, forests, and open areas stress the shader differently. Once you find your sweet spot, the settings save automatically.
