How to Craft and Upgrade Cutlasses

Cutlasses are the core weapon line. Every tier follows the same shape: a Cutlass Mold plus the tier material, then gilding on top.

Basic Cutlasses

Start with a Cutlass Mold. Combine it with the material you have on hand to produce the matching cutlass: Iron Cutlass, Golden Cutlass, Diamond Cutlass, Netherite Cutlass, Bone Cutlass, Blood Diamond Cutlass, Poseidon Cutlass, or Nanner Cutlass. Nanner Cutlass uses Nanner, which you get from Nanner Sapling and Nanner Barrel processing.

Gilded Upgrades

Gilded versions are separate items, not a rename. You need Gold Leaf and the base cutlass. Gilded Cutlass, Gilded Diamond Cutlass, Gilded Netherite Cutlass, Gilded Poseidon Cutlass, and Gilded Blood Diamond Cutlass each consume Gold Leaf alongside their base weapon. Smithing is the recipe type used for these upgrades, so keep a smithing table ready.

Which to Build First

Iron Cutlass is the cheapest entry point. Diamond Cutlass and Netherite Cutlass are straightforward upgrades once you have the vanilla materials. Blood Diamond Cutlass and Poseidon Cutlass sit at the top and require Blood Diamond or Poseidon materials respectively. Gilding adds a second step on top of any of these, so plan your Gold Leaf supply before committing.
