Using Sickles and Scythes to Harvest Grass Fiber

Sickles and Scythes cut grass and crops to yield Grass Fiber, the base material for Mesh and the Watering Can.

Sickle vs Scythe

A Sickle is a one-block harvesting tool. A Scythe covers a wider area, cutting multiple plants in one swing. Both come in Wooden, Stone, Flint, Iron, Golden, Diamond, Emerald, and Netherite tiers. Higher tiers cut faster and last longer.

Harvesting Grass Fiber

1. Craft a Sickle or Scythe for your current tier.

2. Use it on grass or crops.

3. Collect Grass Fiber from the drops.

Grass Fiber is the input for Grass Fiber Mesh. Combine Grass Fiber Mesh into Mesh, then Mesh into Reinforced Mesh. These feed into the Watering Can and Reinforced Watering Can recipes.

Tier Progression

Start with a Wooden Sickle, upgrade to Stone, then Flint once you have flint. Iron and Golden come next, followed by Diamond and Emerald. Netherite Sickle and Netherite Scythe are the top tier. Bring the highest tier you can craft when farming Grass Fiber in bulk, and keep a spare Sickle in your inventory.
