Managing the Pulsing Vignette Effect
Locate Vignette Settings
Open your shader options menu and look for vignette, edge darkening, or peripheral vision controls. These are often grouped under visual effects or atmosphere settings.
Control Vignette Intensity and Speed
If available, adjust the vignette intensity slider to make the darkened edges less pronounced or remove them entirely. Some shader packs include a separate pulse speed control—reducing this will slow down the breathing effect, or setting it to zero may stop the pulsing altogether.
Customize for Comfort
A strong vignette can cause eye strain during long play sessions. Reducing its intensity makes the game more playable while maintaining some horror aesthetic. Test your changes by looking at different angles and lighting conditions to ensure the effect feels balanced.
If no vignette controls exist in the menu, the effect is permanently built into the shader.
