Preparing Your Base for the First Night

Build Quickly Before Sunset

Your first priority is shelter. Punch trees to get wood, craft planks, and build a simple box structure—even a 5×5 room is enough. The walls just need to be solid blocks; zombies and creepers can't break through wood or stone.

Light and Security

Once your walls are up:

1. Craft a crafting table and furnace inside

2. Make torches from wood and coal (or charcoal from cooking wood)

3. Place torches on all interior walls—mobs won't spawn in lit areas

4. Add a door to prevent mobs from wandering in

5. Consider a roof to stop spiders from climbing in

You don't need a fancy base yet—just something that keeps you alive. Hostile mobs spawn at night, so being enclosed and lit up is your only defense. Once you survive the first night, you can expand and improve your base with better materials and design.
