Finding the Best Location for Your Base

Scout the Island Systematically

Before committing to a base location, explore the custom terrain to understand what resources are nearby. Walk along the coastline and inland areas to identify clusters of trees, stone deposits, and flat ground. Pay attention to elevation changes—hills can provide natural defense, while valleys may flood during rain.

Evaluate Your Spot

Look for a location that has:

  • Multiple tree types within walking distance for varied wood and saplings
  • Exposed stone or caves for mining without digging far underground
  • Relatively flat terrain to minimize building preparation work
  • Access to water for farms and future expansion, but not so close that mobs spawn nearby at night
  • Open space around your perimeter so you can see mobs approaching

Avoid building directly next to dense forests—they spawn more hostile mobs at night. A small clearing near trees is ideal. Once you've found a promising spot, gather enough resources for a basic shelter first, then decide if you want to stay or keep exploring. You can always relocate your base later as you expand.
