Reducing Screen Distortion and VHS Artifacts for Clearer Gameplay
Accessing Distortion Controls
Open your shader settings menu and search for options labeled "distortion," "screen effect," "VHS quality," or "analog noise." These control the intensity of the tape-like visual artifacts overlaid on your screen.
Lowering Visual Noise
The bodycam effect includes screen glitches, scan lines, and color bleeding that simulate old video equipment:
- Reduce distortion sliders to minimize flickering and warping
- Lower noise/grain intensity if the grainy texture is distracting
- Adjust color aberration (red/blue fringing) to make the image clearer
You can disable individual effects entirely if they're too intense—for example, turning off scan lines while keeping the overall VHS color grading.
Balancing Atmosphere and Playability
Keep some distortion active to maintain the horror mood; removing everything will make it feel like a normal shader. Test your settings by looking at different blocks and mobs to ensure you can still identify threats clearly. The selective red feature should still make danger stand out even with reduced overall distortion.
