How to Make Dough, Batter, and Flour

Start With Flour

Flour is the base for most baked goods. Process your grain into Flour first, then build up to Dough and Batter before you can craft breads, pies, and cakes.

Dough and Batter

Combine Flour with a liquid to produce Dough. Dough is the input for bread-style items such as Carrot Bread and the crusts used in pies. Batter is the thinner mix used for cakes and muffins. Keep both on hand in a chest near your Cutting Board and Bakeware so you are not running back to a crafting grid mid-recipe.

Why It Matters

Almost every baked item in the mod routes through one of these three intermediates. Apple Muffin, Carrot Muffin, Chocolate Muffin, and Chorus Muffin all need Batter. Apple Pie, Carrot Pie, Chocolate Pie, Chorus Pie, Beef Pot Pie, Chicken Pot Pie, and Fish Pot Pie all need Dough for the crust. Carrot Cake, Cheese Cake, and Chocolate Cake also depend on these bases.

Make Flour in bulk, then split it: some into Dough, some into Batter. Store each in its own labeled chest. When you unlock a new fruit or filling, you only need to swap the flavor ingredient — the Dough or Batter step stays the same.
