Growing Fiber and Utility Crops: Cotton, Flax, Jute, Kenaf, Sisal and Papyrus

What These Crops Are For

Not every crop in the mod is food. Cotton Seed, Flax Seed, Jute Seed, Kenaf Seed, Sisal Seed, and Papyrus Seed are grown for plant material used in crafting rather than eating. Candleberry Seed is another non-food crop grown for its berries.

Planting and Harvesting

Plant each Seed on farmland like a normal crop and let it mature. When fully grown, harvest the plant to collect its produce. These crops are renewable: as long as you keep at least one Seed of each type, you can replant and keep a steady supply.

Grow them in dedicated rows away from your food crops so you do not accidentally harvest the wrong plant. Label the rows with signs if you are running many crop types at once.

Using the Harvest

The harvested fiber and plant material from Cotton, Flax, Jute, Kenaf, Sisal, and Papyrus feeds into the mod's crafting recipes. Combine the harvested plant material with other ingredients to produce the finished crafted items. Because these are crafting inputs rather than food, store them in a chest near your crafting table instead of your kitchen chest.

Practical Setup

Keep a modest plot of each fiber crop — you rarely need as much volume as food crops. Replant immediately after each harvest so the plot never sits empty, and bank the surplus in a dedicated storage chest.
