Building a Self-Sustaining Crop Farm from Seeds
Start from Seeds
Every crop in the mod begins with a Seed item — Corn Seed, Rice Seed, Onion Seed, Garlic Seed, Cabbage Seed, Tomato-style seeds like Bellpepper Seed, and so on. Your first job is to get each Seed into the ground on farmland with light and water.
The Renewal Loop
Most mature crops drop extra Seeds when harvested. That is the core of a self-sustaining farm: harvest a crop, keep some of the dropped Seeds, and replant them. Over a few cycles you turn a single Seed into a full row without needing to find more Seeds.
Follow this loop for each crop type:
1. Plant the Seed on farmland.
2. Let it mature.
3. Harvest the produce and the dropped Seeds.
4. Replant the Seeds immediately.
5. Bank the surplus produce.
Separate Your Plots
Group crops by growing conditions. Standard grain and vegetable crops go on regular farmland. Cactusfruit Seed, Barrel Cactus Seed, Nopales Seed, and Aloe Seed go on sand. Rice Seed, Lotus Seed, and Cattail Seed go on wet ground or shallow water. Keeping plots separate prevents wasted Seeds and makes harvesting faster.
Storage and Processing
Route harvested produce to a kitchen chest and fiber crops like Cotton Seed, Flax Seed, Jute Seed, Kenaf Seed, Sisal Seed, and Papyrus Seed to a crafting chest. Cook root crops into their Baked forms with a furnace, smoker, or campfire. With the renewal loop running, your farm supplies every crop the mod offers indefinitely.
