Troubleshooting Visibility Issues with Pack & White

Identify the Problem

If certain blocks or mobs are difficult to distinguish, the issue is usually contrast—similar gray tones blending together. This is most noticeable in caves or dense forests where shadows accumulate.

Increase Brightness or Contrast

Access your shader options and raise brightness slightly. This separates dark grays from light grays, making individual blocks more visible. Alternatively, increase contrast to enhance the difference between light and shadow areas.

Check Your Monitor Settings

Your monitor's brightness and contrast may be too low. Adjust these independently from in-game settings—a brighter monitor makes grayscale details pop significantly.

Improve Ambient Lighting

Place torches or other light sources more frequently in dark areas. Pack & White responds well to artificial lighting, and strategic torch placement makes caves navigable and builds visible.

Verify Shader Installation

If visibility remains poor across all environments, reinstall the shader. Corrupted files can cause rendering issues.

Note: Some players prefer the high-contrast, low-visibility aesthetic for survival challenge runs. If you enjoy this difficulty, no adjustment is necessary.
