Where Black Opal Ore Generates

Black Opal comes from four ore blocks: Black Opal Ore in the Overworld stone layers, Deepslate Black Opal Ore in the deepslate band, Nether Black Opal Ore in the Nether, and End Black Opal Ore in the End. Each is a separate block, so the ore you target depends on the dimension and depth you are working in.

Mining and Processing

Break any Black Opal Ore variant with a pickaxe to get Black Opal. The ore also has smelting and blasting recipes, so you can cook it in a furnace or blast furnace if you want to process it that way before crafting. Once refined, Black Opal feeds the full Black Opal gear line: Black Opal Sword, Black Opal Pickaxe, Black Opal Axe, Black Opal Shovel, Black Opal Hoe, Black Opal Helmet, Black Opal Chestplate, Black Opal Leggings and Black Opal Boots. You can also craft a Black Opal Block to store or display the material.
