Optimize Performance on Low-End Hardware
Reduce Render Distance
Old Doggo Shaders is designed for weak hardware, but you can squeeze out more frames by lowering render distance in Options → Video Settings. Start at 8-12 chunks and increase only if your frame rate stays stable.
Disable Unnecessary Features
Check the shader options panel for toggles affecting shadows, reflections, or water effects. Disabling advanced lighting calculations will free up GPU resources without removing the cartoon aesthetic.
Lower Graphics Settings
Combine shader optimization with base Minecraft settings: set Graphics to Fast, disable clouds, and turn off smooth lighting if needed. These changes work together with the shader to maintain playability.
Monitor Frame Rate
Use F3 debug screen to watch your FPS while exploring. If it dips below your target (typically 30+ for comfortable play), reduce render distance further or disable more shader features. The mod's strength is maintaining visuals while staying performant—prioritize smooth gameplay over maximum visual quality.
