Using Jack O Lantern Blocks as Light Sources in Builds

Placement Basics

Every block in the mod — Jack o'Lantern and Jack O Lantern 2 through Jack O Lantern 24 — is a placeable block. Once you have crafted a variant, hold it and right-click on a solid surface to place it. It occupies a full block space like a normal pumpkin-based light.

Because there are 24 distinct variants, you can mix them within a single build to create varied lighting patterns without repeating the same block.

Building With Variants

Use the numbered variants to create gradients or patterns along walls, floors, and ceilings. For example, alternate Jack O Lantern 2 and Jack O Lantern 3 along a corridor to break up monotony, or reserve a single variant like Jack O Lantern 24 for a focal point above a doorway.

Since each variant is its own block, you can also use them as markers — assign one variant per room or per path so you can navigate by sight. Place them at eye level or embed them in walls for recessed lighting.

Keep a chest of spare variants near large projects so you can swap blocks without returning to your crafting area. If a placement looks wrong, break the block and re-place it — no special tool is required.
