Optimize Water Appearance and Performance

Locate Water Settings

Open the shader options menu and find the water or reflection section. Nythra provides dedicated controls for how water looks and behaves.

Adjust Reflection Quality

Water reflections can be resource-intensive. You can:

  • Enable or disable reflections entirely
  • Reduce reflection resolution to lower GPU load
  • Toggle whether reflections include sky, terrain, or both

Lower reflection settings improve framerate without removing water's visual appeal.

Control Wave Intensity

Water surface waves add realism but cost performance. Adjust the wave amplitude and frequency slider to find your balance—subtle waves still look natural while using fewer resources.

Adjust Water Clarity

Tweak underwater fog and transparency settings. Clearer water shows the seafloor better but may reduce the sense of depth. Experiment with these values to match your preferred aesthetic.

Test in Different Biomes

Water appearance varies by biome lighting. Visit oceans, rivers, and swamps to confirm your settings look good across different environments.
