Reduce Lag on Lower-End Computers

Identify Performance Bottlenecks

Open Shader Options and note which settings are currently active. Use F3 debug screen to monitor frame rate while adjusting individual features.

Disable or Lower High-Impact Features

Start with these changes in order of performance gain:

1. Reduce shadow distance to minimum or disable shadows entirely.

2. Lower shadow resolution to decrease edge quality.

3. Reduce water reflection quality or disable reflections.

4. Decrease sunlight brightness slightly (uses less computation).

5. Lower overall shader quality preset if available (often a master toggle).

Test Incrementally

Change one setting at a time and play for 30 seconds to observe frame rate impact. This helps you find the sweet spot between visual quality and playability.

Alternative: Use Lite Profile

Some shader packs include a "lite" or "performance" preset. Check Shader Options for a quality preset selector—this applies multiple optimizations at once.

Verify Playability

After optimization, play normally for several minutes. Ensure frame rates remain stable during movement, building, and in complex areas like forests or villages.
