Optimize Water Appearance and Reflections
Locate Water Settings
In Shader Options, find the water-specific section. NovaShade separates water quality from other visual elements.
Adjust Water Clarity
Look for controls affecting:
- Water Transparency: Controls how far you can see through water. Increase for clearer underwater visibility; decrease if you want more opaque, stylized water.
- Wave Height: Adjusts surface wave amplitude. Higher values create more noticeable ripples; lower values produce calm, mirror-like surfaces.
- Reflection Strength: Controls how much the sky and surroundings reflect on the water surface.
Balance Visuals and Performance
Water reflections and transparency are moderately demanding. If frame rates drop near large water bodies, reduce reflection strength or wave detail before lowering transparency.
Test Different Conditions
View your water at different times of day and weather conditions. Water appearance changes dramatically under sunlight versus rain or night. Adjust settings during daytime for the most noticeable effect, then verify they look good in other conditions.
