Reduce or Disable VHS Noise for Clearer Visuals

Open Shader Configuration

Access the NostaLens Shaders settings menu through your shader mod interface. This is where all visual effects can be toggled and adjusted.

Locate the VHS Noise Setting

Find the option labeled VHS noise, film grain, or static effect. This controls the subtle scanline and noise texture overlaid on your screen to simulate old video tape footage.

Adjust Noise Intensity

Slide the noise value down to reduce the grainy appearance, or disable it completely if you prefer a cleaner image. Note that the UI and held items remain unaffected by this setting—they stay sharp regardless.

Test Different Levels

Try intermediate values rather than jumping straight to zero. A small amount of noise preserves the retro aesthetic while improving visibility. Test in different lighting conditions: caves appear grainier than bright daylight, so you may want different settings for different playstyles.

Save Your Preference

Confirm your changes and explore your world. You can always return to adjust further if the balance between nostalgia and clarity doesn't feel right.
