Adjust Lighting Intensity for Your Playstyle
Access Shader Settings
Open the shader options menu while in-game by pressing the designated key (usually found in your controls or shader menu). Look for lighting or brightness-related sliders.
Customize Ambient Light
Ambient light controls how brightly dark caves and enclosed spaces are illuminated. If you find underground areas too dark for comfortable mining, increase the ambient light value. Conversely, reduce it for a more challenging, atmospheric experience. This setting affects how much light "fills" shadowed areas without direct light sources.
Adjust Shadow Intensity
Shadow depth and softness can be tuned separately. Stronger shadows create more dramatic contrast and visual depth, while softer shadows maintain visibility in shaded areas. Find the shadow strength or softness slider and experiment until the balance feels right for your building or exploration style.
Fine-Tune Daylight and Moonlight
Nocturne allows separate control over how bright daylight and moonlight appear. If daytime feels washed out, reduce daylight intensity. If nights are too dark, boost moonlight contribution. These settings preserve vanilla aesthetics while letting you customize visibility.
Save and Test
Apply changes and spend time in different environments—caves, open plains, and forests—to ensure the new settings match your preference.
