Reduce Nighttime Darkness While Maintaining Atmosphere
Find Night Lighting Settings
In Shader Options, locate the nighttime or ambient lighting section. This controls how visible the world becomes after sunset.
Increase Night Visibility
Adjust these parameters:
- Night brightness: Raise this to make dark areas more visible without using torches
- Ambient light level: Controls how much light the sky provides at night
- Moon brightness: Affects how much the moon illuminates the landscape
Preserve the Mood
The goal is visibility without losing the soft, dark atmosphere. Increase values gradually—too much brightness removes the nighttime feel. A good balance lets you navigate caves and outdoors without torches while keeping shadows meaningful.
Test your settings in different locations: open plains, forests, and caves all respond differently to night lighting changes. Remember that torches, lanterns, and other light sources still provide their own illumination, so nighttime adjustments mainly affect unlit areas.
