Optimize Frame Rate on Low-End Hardware

Adjust Shader Settings for Your System

NEXA LowShader is designed to run on older computers, but you can fine-tune performance further. Open the shader options menu (usually accessed via the pause menu or shader settings button) and look for quality presets or individual toggles.

Key Settings to Lower

If you're still experiencing frame drops:

  • Shadow distance: Reduce how far shadows render into the distance. Closer shadows still look good but cost less performance.
  • Shadow quality: Lower shadow resolution or softness if available—this has a big impact on frame rate.
  • Ambient occlusion: Disable or reduce if your device struggles; this darkens crevices but isn't essential for survival.
  • Reflection/water effects: Scale these back if present; they're performance-heavy on weak GPUs.

Test Your Changes

After each adjustment, load a world and observe frame rates in different environments—caves, forests, and open sky all stress the shader differently. Make small changes rather than disabling everything at once; you'll find the sweet spot where visuals remain pleasant and gameplay stays smooth.
