Crafting and Using the Staves

The Four Staves

There are four staves: Staff of Ancient Knowledge, Staff of Baldur, Staff of Riches, and Staff of Shadows. Each is a held tool with its own effect. Craft the one that matches the task you are doing rather than carrying all four.

Materials to Gather

Staves are made from Ancient Wood components. Harvest Ancient Bark, then craft Ancient Planks, Ancient Wood Slab, Ancient Wood Stairs, and Ancient Wood Rod. The Ancient Wood Rod is the shaft component used in staff crafting. Gold Powder and Infused Iron Ingot appear in advanced recipes, so smelt and prepare those before you start.

Using a Staff

Hold the staff and use it on the target block or entity. Staff of Ancient Knowledge is used for knowledge-related interactions; Staff of Baldur for growth and protection effects; Staff of Riches for resource-related effects; Staff of Shadows for shadow-related effects. Keep the staff in your main hand and aim at the block or mob you want to affect.

Progression

1. Chop Ancient Bark.

2. Craft Ancient Planks and Ancient Wood Rod.

3. Prepare Gold Powder and Infused Iron Ingot.

4. Craft the staff matching your task.

5. Use it on the target block or entity.
