Crafting a Flint Hatchet and Bone Knife

Flint Hatchet

The Flint Hatchet is your first chopping tool. Combine Flint with Twigs at a crafting table to produce it. Use it to break wood and plant material faster than by hand. Because it is an early tool, expect it to wear out; craft a spare before heading out.

Bone Knife

The Bone Knife is your first cutting tool. Combine Bone Shard with Twigs at a crafting table. Bone Shard comes from processing bone material, so kill skeletons or gather bone blocks and break them down. The Bone Knife handles cutting tasks that a hatchet cannot, so carry both.

Bone Pickaxe

The Bone Pickaxe is your first pickaxe. Combine Bone Shard with Twigs at a crafting table. Use it to mine stone and the cobbled blocks you will need next. Like the other bone and flint tools, it is not durable, so keep Bone Shard and Twigs in stock and remake it as needed.

Order of Operations

Craft the Flint Hatchet first so you can gather wood. Craft the Bone Knife and Bone Pickaxe next. With all three, you can collect the stone and wood needed to move on to cobbled blocks and saws.
