Crafting the Adaptive Crossbow

The Adaptive Crossbow is a crafted weapon. Combine it using a shaped crafting recipe with the materials you already gather from mutant mobs. Once crafted, it fires standard arrows and works as your primary ranged tool against the mod's tougher enemies.

Using Icicle Ammo Charge

The Adaptive Crossbow pairs with Icicle Ammo Charge. Craft Icicle Ammo Charge separately, then load it to convert your crossbow's shots into freezing projectiles. This is useful against fast or heavily armored targets where a normal arrow would bounce off. Keep a stack of Icicle Ammo Charge in your inventory before heading into a fight, since you will burn through them quickly.

Pairing With Other Gear

If you already have the Freezing Fan or Snowstorm Generator placed near your base, the crossbow's icy shots stack with that cold theme. For melee backup, carry the Withered Scimitar or Hogfist Gauntlet so you are not stuck reloading at close range. The Adaptive Crossbow is best treated as your opening weapon: soften a target from distance, then swap to melee once it closes in.
