Upgrading to a Scoped Musket or Bayonet Musket

Two Upgrade Paths

The base Musket can be improved in two directions using smithing_transform recipes. One path produces the Scoped Musket for ranged accuracy. The other produces the Musket with Bayonet for close-quarters melee.

Both upgrades start from a Musket and a Smithing Template. Decide which role you need before committing, since each transform consumes the base Musket.

Scoped Musket

Use the smithing_transform recipe with a Musket to get the Scoped Musket. This is the long-range option — use it when you want to hit targets before they reach you. It still fires Paper Cartridge, so your ammo supply does not change.

Musket with Bayonet

Use the smithing_transform recipe with a Musket to get the Musket with Bayonet. This keeps the firearm and adds a melee attack, so you can stab when something gets close instead of reloading under pressure.

If you want both roles covered, craft two base Muskets first, then upgrade each one down a different path. That way you are not choosing between range and melee every time you leave your base. Bring Paper Cartridge for whichever firearm you carry.
