How to Craft and Load a Musket

Crafting the Musket

You need a Smithing Template to start. Use it in a smithing_transform recipe to produce the base Musket. The Smithing Template is the gate for the whole progression, so secure one before gathering anything else.

Once you have the Musket, you need Paper Cartridge to fire it. Paper Cartridge is made through the crafting_shapeless recipe. Keep a stack on you at all times — the Musket will not fire without it.

Loading and Firing

Hold the Musket in your main hand and have Paper Cartridge in your inventory. Load a cartridge into the Musket, then aim and fire. Each shot consumes one Paper Cartridge. There is no separate powder or ball step — the Paper Cartridge is the complete ammunition unit.

If you want a bayonet for close range, upgrade the Musket into a Musket with Bayonet using a smithing_transform recipe. This keeps the firearm function and adds a melee option, so you do not need to swap weapons when something closes distance.

Carry spare Paper Cartridge. Running dry mid-fight leaves you with a slow melee tool at best. Restock at a crafting station before heading out.
