Using Shapeless Crafting in Mushroom Quest

What Shapeless Means

Most Mushroom Quest recipes are shapeless. The mod registers fourteen shapeless crafting recipes, compared to only two smelting, two smoking, and two campfire cooking recipes. Shapeless means the position of each ingredient in the crafting grid is irrelevant — you only need the correct items present in the correct counts. You can drop them anywhere in the 3x3 grid and the result appears in the output slot.

Practical Steps

1. Place a crafting table.

2. Open it and put your mushroom caps and other ingredients anywhere in the grid.

3. Take the result from the output slot.

Because order does not matter, you can fill the grid in whatever pattern is fastest. This is useful when you are crafting Miso Soup repeatedly and want to move quickly.

What Is Not Shapeless

The cooked dishes — Grilled Portobello and Grilled Chicken of the Woods — are not crafted. They come from smelting, smoking, or campfire cooking. Do not try to assemble them in a crafting grid; use a furnace, smoker, or campfire instead. Everything else in the mod that is craftable uses the shapeless type, so if a recipe is not working in the grid, check whether it is actually a cooking recipe before rearranging ingredients.
