Building Redstone, Quartz, and Obsidian Armor

Redstone and Quartz

Craft Redstone Helmet, Redstone Chestplate, Redstone Leggings, and Redstone Boots from redstone dust using the standard four shaped armor recipes. Redstone is easy to gather while mining, so this set is a low-cost option. Craft Quartz Helmet, Quartz Chestplate, Quartz Leggings, and Quartz Boots from nether quartz using the same layouts. Quartz requires a trip to the Nether, so gather a stack before crafting the full set.

Obsidian Armor

Craft Obsidian Helmet, Obsidian Chestplate, Obsidian Leggings, and Obsidian Boots from obsidian. Obsidian is obtained by mining with a diamond or netherite pickaxe or by letting water flow onto lava. Because obsidian is slow to mine, collect enough for all four pieces before starting. The shaped recipes follow the usual helmet, chestplate, leggings, and boots patterns.

Practical Use

Redstone armor is the easiest of the three to make and works well for general exploration. Quartz armor is a solid upgrade once you have Nether access. Obsidian armor costs more effort but uses a durable material, making it a strong choice before you move on to Ender or Fiery sets. Keep spare materials so you can replace individual pieces as they wear out.
