Confirm the Recipe in the Crafting Table

Open a crafting table and lay out the ingredients in the exact shaped arrangement. The recipe is a shaped recipe, so the position of each item matters — mirroring or shifting the pattern will not produce the totem. Once the output slot shows the Explosive Totem of Undying, take it out.

Use It

Hold the Explosive Totem of Undying in your hand or inventory. When you would take fatal damage, the totem activates instead of you dying, and its explosive effect triggers around you. Keep it in your hotbar or offhand so it is consumed automatically.
