How to Build Gear and Axle Power with More Red
Wood Types and Parts
More Red provides mechanical parts in Oak, Acacia, Birch, Cherry, Crimson, Dark Oak, Jungle, Mangrove, and Pale Oak variants. Each wood type has an Axle, Clutch, Gear, Gearshifter, and Windcatcher. Match the wood type across a build so the parts connect.
Assembling a Drive Line
1. Place a Windcatcher to generate rotation.
2. Connect it to an Axle to carry that rotation along a line.
3. Insert a Gear where you need to change direction or mesh with another line.
4. Add a Clutch so you can disengage that section without breaking the whole line.
5. Place a Gearshifter where you want to switch the output between two states.
Use Gears as the connecting component between separate Axle runs. If a line needs to drive several machines, branch it with additional Gears rather than stacking Axles end to end.
Controlling Rotation
A Clutch acts as an on/off for its section: disengage it to stop downstream parts while the Windcatcher keeps turning. A Gearshifter changes which way the section drives. Combine these with the mod's logic blocks — for example, an AND Gate feeding a Clutch — so rotation only engages when your redstone conditions are met.
