How to Craft Charcoal Chunks and Coal Chunks

Turning Charcoal Into Chunks

Charcoal Chunk and Coal Chunk are the small units used throughout the rest of the mod's recipes. Start by placing vanilla Charcoal into a crafting grid to break it down into Charcoal Chunk. The same shapeless conversion applies to vanilla Coal, which yields Coal Chunk. Keep a stack of each on hand before you begin any of the larger conversions, because most of the shaped recipes in this mod consume chunks rather than full items.

Using Chunks as Recipe Inputs

Once you have Charcoal Chunk and Coal Chunk, they become the base material for the mod's shaped recipes. The shaped recipes in the mod take these chunks and combine them with other ingredients to produce the specialty charcoals and their storage blocks. Plan your chunk production around how many shaped recipes you intend to run: each shaped recipe consumes multiple chunks, so convert Charcoal and Coal in bulk rather than one at a time. If you are short on vanilla Charcoal, remember that smelting logs in a furnace still produces it, and that smelting is one of the recipe types this mod uses, so a furnace setup is worth maintaining alongside your crafting table.
