Using Filters to Control Which Items a Router Moves

Pick the Right Filter Item

Every filtering decision starts with one of five filter items: Bulk Item Filter, Inspection Filter, Mod Filter, Regex Filter, and Tag Filter. Place the chosen filter into the filter slot of the module that is doing the work. The filter defines the set of items the module is allowed to touch.

What Each Filter Matches

  • Tag Filter: matches items by their item tag. Use this when a whole group of related items should be treated the same way.
  • Mod Filter: matches items by the mod they come from. Use this to move or block everything belonging to one mod.
  • Regex Filter: matches item names using a regular expression. Use this for flexible name patterns.
  • Inspection Filter: matches based on inspected item properties rather than just the name.
  • Bulk Item Filter: holds a larger list of specific items in one filter.

Applying the Filter

Insert the filter into the module, then configure the module's direction and target. The module will only act on items that pass the filter. If nothing moves, check that the filter is actually populated — an empty filter matches nothing. To change behaviour, swap the filter item rather than editing the module itself.

Combining Filters with Upgrades

Upgrades installed in the Modular Router change how modules run, while filters decide what they run on. Keep the two roles separate: set the filter for item selection, and set upgrades for speed, range, or other behaviour.
