Maintaining Tool Recognition Across All Material Tiers
Why Tool Appearance Still Matters
Even though Modsinth's Small Tools Resource Pack shrinks your equipment, each tool remains visually distinct. The pack preserves vanilla textures and colors, so you can instantly identify what you're holding without checking your inventory.
Identifying Tools by Sight
1. By Shape: Swords have a blade profile, pickaxes show a wide head, axes display a single-sided head, and shovels have a flat scoop
2. By Color: Each material has its signature hue—wood is brown, stone is gray, copper is orange, iron is silver, gold is yellow, diamond is cyan, and netherite is dark gray
3. By Texture Detail: Higher-tier tools show more refined patterns; netherite tools appear darker and more weathered than iron
Quick Reference During Gameplay
When switching tools rapidly:
- Glance at the tool's color first
- Check the silhouette shape second
- Confirm with your hotbar if uncertain
Because the pack keeps the classic vanilla art style intact, your muscle memory from standard Minecraft transfers directly. You won't need to relearn tool identification—just adjust to the smaller screen footprint.
