Reactor Fuel Basics

Nuclear fuel comes from Uranium. Mine Uranium Ore, process it into Uranium Dust, and combine with other materials to form LE Uranium and HE Uranium. These are stored as Block of LE Uranium and Block of HE Uranium. LE Mox and HE Mox are the mixed-oxide variants, stored as Block of LE Mox and Block of HE Mox.

Reactor Components

A reactor needs a hull, fuel rods, and cooling. Use Advanced Machine Hull and Advanced Machine Casing for the structure. Blastproof Casing and Blastproof Alloy Large Plate are used where explosions must be contained. Route coolant through Advanced Fluid Input Hatch and Advanced Fluid Output Hatch.

Control and Safety

Insert fuel via Advanced Item Input Hatch and pull spent fuel from Advanced Item Output Hatch. Monitor heat and shut down the reactor if temperatures climb. Never stack HE Uranium or HE Mox without adequate cooling; these are the high-energy fuels that can melt down.

Handling a Meltdown

If the reactor overheats, it can explode. Keep the reactor away from your main base and store Plutonium and other products in a separate blast-proof room. Use Blastproof Casing on all walls facing the reactor.
