How to Set Up Fluid and Item Logistics with Hatches and Pipes

Choosing Hatches

Every machine in Modern Industrialization exposes inputs and outputs through hatches. Use Advanced Item Input Hatch and Advanced Item Output Hatch for solids, and Advanced Fluid Input Hatch / Advanced Fluid Output Hatch for liquids and gases. Basic Machine Hull and Advanced Machine Hull determine which hatches fit. Place hatches on the correct face — input on one side, output on the other — or the machine will not accept or eject anything.

Pipes and Cables

Move items with Black Item Pipe and fluids with Black Fluid Pipe. Power travels through Aluminum Cable, Annealed Copper Cable, and Black ME Wire. Managing Overflow

Output hatches fill up fast. Attach an Automatic Trash Can to any output hatch you do not want to babysit. For valuable byproducts like Antimony Dust, Beryllium Dust, or Platinum Dust, route them into dedicated chests instead. Keep one hatch per material type where possible — mixing items in a single hatch causes backups. Test each line by inserting a single item and confirming it reaches the destination before scaling up.
