How to Make Your First Aluminum Ingot with the Forge Hammer

Getting the Ore

Mine Bauxite Ore with any pickaxe. Each block drops Bauxite Ore, which you can break down further. Place Bauxite Ore in a crafting grid to get Bauxite Dust, or process it through a Forge Hammer recipe to start refining.

Forge Hammer Processing

Use the Forge Hammer recipe type on Bauxite Dust to produce Aluminum Dust. The Forge Hammer is the entry point for most early metal chains, so keep a stack of hammers on hand. Once you have Aluminum Dust, smelt it in a furnace to get an Aluminum Ingot. Blasting also works and is faster if you have a Blast Furnace.

Turning Ingots into Parts

Aluminum Ingot is the base for Aluminum Nugget, Aluminum Tiny Dust, Aluminum Large Plate, Aluminum Gear, Aluminum Ring, Aluminum Rotor, Aluminum Blade, Aluminum Drill Head, Aluminum Cable, and Aluminum Tank. Craft the parts you need at a crafting table using shaped recipes. Aluminum Barrel and Block of Aluminum are also available once you have enough ingots.

Why Aluminum Matters

Aluminum feeds into higher-tier machine hulls and cables. Store ingots in a Block of Aluminum to save space, and keep a barrel of Aluminum Dust ready so you can smelt on demand.
