Building a Steam Quarry Setup

What You Need

A Steam Quarry in Modern Industrialization is driven by steam and a drill head. Gather Aluminum Drill Head, Aluminum Gear, Aluminum Large Plate, and Basic Machine Hull. You also need a steam source: an Advanced Large Steam Boiler or a basic boiler feeding steam through pipes.

Assembling the Quarry

Place the Basic Machine Hull as the core. Attach the Aluminum Drill Head to the front face where you want it to dig. Connect steam input using Black Fluid Pipe from your boiler to the hull. The quarry consumes steam continuously while running, so keep the boiler fed with fuel and water.

Powering and Running

Feed the boiler with fuel and water. Once steam reaches the quarry, it begins mining blocks below the drill head. Output items are collected from the hull's output side. Use Black Item Pipe to route drops into a chest or Aluminum Barrel.

Scaling Up

When you have Advanced Machine Hull and Advanced Motor, upgrade the drill for faster operation. For deeper mining, chain multiple quarries or move the setup down as the hole deepens. Keep an Automatic Trash Can nearby to void unwanted stone and dirt so your storage does not fill up.
