Automating Ore Processing with Hatches and Pipes

Input Side

Place your processing machine on a Basic Machine Hull. Attach an Item Input Hatch to feed raw ore and a Fluid Input Hatch if the recipe needs a fluid. Connect Black Item Pipe from a chest or Aluminum Barrel into the hatch. For fluids, run Black Fluid Pipe from an Aluminum Tank.

Use an Advanced Item Input Hatch and Advanced Fluid Input Hatch when you need higher throughput or multiple input slots. Power the machine with Aluminum Cable from your generator.

Output Side

Attach an Item Output Hatch to collect dusts, ingots, and byproducts such as Aluminum Tiny Dust, Annealed Copper Tiny Dust, or Battery Alloy Tiny Dust. Attach a Fluid Output Hatch for liquid outputs. Route Black Item Pipe and Black Fluid Pipe from the output hatches into storage.

Handling Byproducts

Byproducts clog lines fast. Place an Automatic Trash Can on a filtered branch of the output pipe so unwanted Tiny Dusts are voided. Keep useful Nuggets and Tiny Dusts by routing them to a dedicated Barrel; nine Tiny Dusts combine into one Nugget and nine Nuggets into one Ingot.

Scaling Up

When one machine cannot keep up, duplicate the layout: another Basic Machine Hull, another set of hatches, another pipe run. Upgrade to Advanced Machine Hull, Advanced Machine Casing, Advanced Motor, and Advanced Pump for higher-tier recipes. Use the Assembler to mass-produce the casings, cables, and circuits you need for each new line.
