How to Use the Mapping Table and Map with Path

Crafting the Map

Map with path is the navigation item. Craft it before you set out so you have a record of where you have been. It pairs with the Mapping table block.

Using the Mapping Table

Place a Mapping table at your base or on a dock. Interact with it while holding a Map with path to update or review the recorded route. The table is the fixed point you return to when you want to check or extend your path data.

Navigating With the Map

Carry the Map with path while you travel. It records the route you take, so you can retrace a supply line between two docks, follow a river to a mining site, or find your way back to a Modular Boat left parked far from base.

Combining With Other Tools

Pair the map with a Boat helm and Boat Seat on your Modular Boat so you can steer while referencing the route. If you are mapping underwater areas, bring a Diving Bottle. For long hauls where you want the boat to keep working while you are away, add a Boat Chunk Loader so the mapped route stays active.

Workflow

1. Craft a Map with path.

2. Place a Mapping table at your home dock.

3. Update the map at the table.

4. Travel your route, then return and update again to extend the record.
