Building a Colored Light Scheme With Glowstone Blocks

Pick a Palette First

Before placing a single block, decide which colored Glowstone Blocks you are using. The mod gives you sixteen colors: White, Orange, Magenta, Light Blue, Yellow, Lime, Pink, Gray, Light Gray, Cyan, Purple, Blue, Brown, Green, Red, and Black Glowstone Block. Choose three or four that work together and craft only those.

Lay Out the Light

Colored Glowstone Blocks are full light sources, so every placement both lights the space and adds color. Plan your light positions before you build the ceiling.

• Use a bright color such as White, Yellow, or Light Blue Glowstone Block for main room lighting.
• Use a darker color such as Blue, Purple, or Black Glowstone Block for accent strips.
• Alternate two colors in a repeating pattern along a corridor.

Combine With Brick and Lamp

Mix in Glowstone Brick for textured surfaces and Glowstone Lamp for fixtures. A ceiling of Glowstone Brick with Glowstone Lamp set into it, plus a stripe of colored Glowstone Block along the wall, gives you layered lighting from three different blocks.

Keep the Build Consistent

Craft your chosen colors in bulk before you start placing. Running out mid-wall forces you to stop and craft, which breaks the pattern. Count the blocks you need per row, multiply by the number of rows, and craft that total plus a small surplus.
