How to Craft Tinted Glass Slabs and Tinted Glass Stairs

What you need

Tinted Glass Slab and Tinted Glass Stairs are the two dark, light-blocking variants. They are crafted from Tinted Glass, the same block that stops light from passing through.

Crafting steps

At a crafting table, use Tinted Glass in place of ordinary glass:

• Arrange Tinted Glass in a horizontal row to make Tinted Glass Slab.
• Arrange Tinted Glass in the stair pattern to make Tinted Glass Stairs.

Both are shaped recipes, so the glass must sit in the correct slots for the output to appear.

Alternatively, place Tinted Glass into a stonecutter and choose Tinted Glass Slab or Tinted Glass Stairs from the output list. This is the faster route when converting a large amount of Tinted Glass.

Where to use them

Tinted Glass Slab and Tinted Glass Stairs block light while still being transparent to the eye, which makes them useful for mob-proof windows, darkroom walls, and roofs that need to stay dark underneath. Slabs work well for low light-blocking ledges and floor inlays, while stairs are better for sloped covers and corners. Because they share the tinted look, you can mix slabs and stairs in the same build without a visible color mismatch.
