How to Craft Glass Slabs and Glass Stairs

Crafting the plain variants

Glass Slab and Glass Stairs are the two base blocks you will use most. Both are made at a crafting table from ordinary glass blocks.

• Glass Slab: place glass blocks in a horizontal row across the crafting grid to produce Glass Slab.
• Glass Stairs: arrange glass blocks in the classic stair pattern (a full row on the bottom, then a shorter row above it, then a single block on top) to produce Glass Stairs.

Because these are shaped recipes, the position of the glass in the grid matters. If a layout does not produce the block you want, rearrange the glass until the output slot shows Glass Slab or Glass Stairs.

Using the stonecutter

Both blocks also have stonecutting recipes. Place glass into a stonecutter and pick Glass Slab or Glass Stairs from the output list. The stonecutter gives you a direct one-step conversion, which is useful when you already have a stack of glass and want to mass-produce slabs or stairs without filling the crafting grid each time.

Slabs and stairs are the cheapest way to stretch a glass supply across a large build. Use slabs for flat window sills, floors and roof edges, and stairs for sloped skylights, greenhouse roofs and decorative trim.
