Converting Glass into Slabs and Stairs with a Stonecutter

Why use the stonecutter

Every slab and stair in the mod has a stonecutting recipe in addition to its crafting recipe. The stonecutter lets you turn one glass block into the exact slab or stair you want in a single step, without laying out a shaped grid. This is the fastest method when you are working with stacks of glass at a time.

Step-by-step

1. Place a stonecutter.

2. Put the glass you want to convert into the input slot. This can be plain Glass, Tinted Glass, or any of the sixteen stained glass colors.

3. Browse the output list. It will show the matching slab and stair for that glass type — for example, Glass Slab and Glass Stairs from plain Glass, or Red Stained Glass Slab and Red Stained Glass Stairs from Red Stained Glass.

4. Click the output you want and take the result.

Matching input to output

The stonecutter only offers the slab and stair that match the glass you inserted. To get Black Stained Glass Stairs, insert Black Stained Glass. To get Tinted Glass Slab, insert Tinted Glass. Keep a stack of each glass type near the stonecutter if you are producing several colors for one build, and switch the input as needed.
