How to Use the Mining Gadget In-Game

Basic Mining

Hold a Mining Gadget MK1, MK2, or MK3 and aim at a block. The gadget mines in the shape and range determined by its installed upgrades. With no upgrades it mines a single block. Adding Upgrade: 3x3, Upgrade: 5x5, or Upgrade: 7x7 widens the area. Adding Upgrade: Range, Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3 extends the distance the gadget can reach.

Utility Upgrades

Upgrade: Silk touch makes mined blocks drop as themselves. Upgrade: Fortune, Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 increase drops from ores and similar blocks. Upgrade: Magnet pulls drops toward you so you do not leave items behind. Upgrade: Void Junk destroys unwanted blocks instead of dropping them. Upgrade: Freezing applies a freezing effect to mined blocks. Upgrade: Light Placer places a Miner's Light as you mine, which is useful in dark tunnels. Miner's Light is also a placeable block on its own.

Managing Power and Slots

Every active upgrade draws on the gadget's energy. Install Upgrade: Battery, Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3 to extend runtime, or Upgrade: Creative Battery for unlimited use. Use the Modification Table to add, remove, or swap upgrades. Match the upgrade set to the job: size and efficiency for bulk clearing, silk touch and fortune for ore runs, magnet and void junk for cleanup.
